Newborn Session What to Expect
Your newborn session will take place at our home studio. The studio is white & bright, filtering through beautiful soft natural light and offers complete privacy for those intimate moments. Our cozy studio is also equipped with heating to ensure that you and your precious new bundle of joy are comfortable during the session. All our newborn wraps, blankets & outfits are washed with baby sensitive laundry detergent after every session and we use white noise to make that your newborn feels right at home.
Once you have booked with us we will discuss if your partner or other family members will be included in your newborn session. We will also send through a style guide with tips on what to wear and how to coordinate family outfits. We do offer a small selection of neutral toned newborn wraps, outfits, headbands, and bonnets for you to choose from.
We offer a very neutral and minimal newborn setup where we focus on capturing your newborn in a documentary style, using props very minimally. We are passionate about following a baby led approach where your newborn will be safely posed on a beanbag and treated with the utmost care. We will never force your newborn into any uncomfortable poses and will adapt the session to whether they are awake or sleep. A planned workflow will also ensure the most effortless transitions between poses as to not overstimulate your newborn.
We usually incorporate three main setups in our newborn sessions and adapt them according to you and your baby's needs. One, being your newborn in an outfit, posed with the family. Two, your baby wrapped up posed on a beanbag or in a basket. Three, your little bundle in the nude or with a diaper cover or loose wrap over their bum to capture more of their tiny body, rolls and folds!
Your newborn session will run between 2-3 hours so we recommend bringing your baby to the session well-fed, burped, with a fresh diaper so that they can easily drift off into a deep sleep for their memorable newborn session. We do ensure that there is ample time for your baby to settle in between shots for any necessary feeding or diaper changes.
After your session you will receive your photo selections via email on an online gallery within 1-2 days. From there you will view and select your favorites that will go through to editing. Your final gallery will be delivered digitally within 1 - 2 weeks after your newborn session. You can purchase extra images or upgrade to our digital plus, treasure or display packages at any time after your session. We can also customize a print package according to your needs.
What to Pack?
Bring along a pacifier if your baby takes one.
Make sure that you have an extra feed for your baby.
Diapers & wipes if your baby needs a change during our session.
Any newborn outfit that you would like to shoot in. Solid neutral colours and beautiful textures like a chunky knit works really well. Avoid too many patterns.
Snacks for mamma or pappa as the session could run 3 hours.
